Song of the Psychopomp

SCPresents Sharon

September 14 – October 25, 2015 * at your computer
optional video chats Sundays at noon (Pacific Time) on 9/20, 10/4, and 10/18

What does it mean to aid the transition of death?
Is this something we can realistically do?
How can song and music help this transition?

This six-week seminar delves into these questions, and the ways in which people have utilized music over the years to bring ease to the passage of death. We will explore modern and ancient traditions surrounding death, cultivate awareness practices that can increase our sensitivity to the dying and to their loved ones, and develop vocal techniques in order to bring mastery to our ability to make appropriate music.
We will view our song as a vehicle which we can create to carry the soul of the deceased out into the great sea of consciousness, that they may feel supported and nurtured in their journey to whatever lies beyond.

Sharon Knight
has been an internationally touring musician, and a witch, for over 30 years. She has spent the bulk of her magical study exploring the ways in which music and magic intersect. She is an initiate of the Feri tradition, with studies in Thelema, Chaos magic, and Buddhism. Circumstances have transpired that she has been present with several loved ones at the moment of passing. This has had a profound effect on her, and has provided the impetus for this work.

Cost is sliding scale $90-180 with some scholarships available.
Those who pay at the top of the scale help those who need scholarships.

Class size is limited to 25 people. We will use Moodle for weekly online homework and discussions. We will use Zoom for three pre-scheduled video chat sessions on Sundays at noon (Pacific Time) on 9/20, 10/4, and 10/18. With the exception of these optional chats, class is in session whenever you have time set aside to show up. As these seminars are intensives, we recommend scheduling the time on your calendar in advance.
